My name is Beth VanWyngarden, I am a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist and I have been practicing in Salem Oregon for over 11 years. I never saw myself as an acupuncturist, I didn’t even know about Chinese Medicine. In my late 20s, after years of suffering with my own chronic gut issues I began searching for a healing modality that would help me understand my body and encourage health and wellbeing without taking pharmaceuticals. That’s how I came to find Chinese Medicine, I found an acupuncturist who really listened to me and helped me on my path of healing and ultimately my love of the medicine. After graduating from the Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts in Asheville North Carolina we moved out west. Oregon seemed like a natural fit for us with all the natural beauty and awe. When I am not practicing Chinese Medicine I am busy watching my kids play sports and hiking in the woods as much as possible.

When I graduated from Chinese Medical school I was gifted calligraphy art from one of our master teachers, the Chinese symbol of illumination, as a reminder of the awe and wonder of the medicine, and to continue to shine light on that which we cannot see to create healing in ourselves and the world around us. I use the symbol of illumination in my business as a reminder to be the light, and to shine light on others so that they may live their best lives in health and happiness.
